The Apprentice - Task #5

Post by DudeyDan » Wed Nov 23, 2011 11:15 am

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
- Mackinlee (PM)
- nines
- JSIMP

Everything Rhymes with Orange
- Da Mayer
- Ed Philly
- KevIncredible
- sirmikeknight (PM)

This task will require you to buy and then expand a wrestling company. The team with the most profitable company at the end will win.

This task will run for 10 days. Each company puts on a show each day so you will have 10 shows (unless your company goes bust before then). After every show you will have the opportunity to use your profits from your show to improve your company in 3 ways:

1. Increase crowd capacity (increasing revenue)
2. Pay off debt (lowering risk of your company collapsing)
3. Purchasing Wrestlers (increasing revenues & costs varying from wrestler to wrestler)

Alternatively, profits can be saved to be used at a later date but any profits left over after 10 days will go to waste! You can do more than one of the upgrades above at one time but only one of each (so you can upgrade crowd capacity once and pay off debt once in the same day).

It is the company with the highest Profits per show at the end which will win.

Each team will choose 1 company from the 6 below:
Spoiler!!! :
Unstoppable Elite Wrestling
- Current Profits: $50 per show

- Revenue per show: $120
- Cost per show: $70

UEW has steady profits and has a 10% chance of collapsing each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $50, reducing the risk of going bust by 5% each time.

The UEW arena can be upgraded at a cost of $150, increasing revenues by 20% each time.

------

Boston Championship Wrestling
- Current Profits: $100 per show

- Revenue per show: $200
- Cost per show: $100

BCW has good profits but it is in a lot of debt so it is a high risk company – it has a 50% chance of going bust after each day. Debt can be paid off reducing the risk of going bust by 10% for every $100.

Crowd size is average and can be upgraded at a cost of $200, increasing revenues by 30% each time.

------

Fulham Wrestling Federation
- Current Profits: $60 per show

- Revenue per show: $150
- Cost per show: $90

FWF is a medium-risk company with a 20% chance of going bust each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $40, reducing the risk of going bust by 5%.

It often sells out its small venue and there is high demand for tickets. The capacity can be upgraded at a cost of $90, increasing revenues by 20% each time.

-------

Awesome Wrestling Alliance
- Current Profits: $25 per show

- Revenue per show: $50
- Cost per show: $25

AWA is a low-risk company without any debt and has a 0% chance of going bust.

Crowd capacity can be increased at a cost of $60, increasing revenues by 30% each time.

-------

Full Metal Wrestling
- Current Profits: $30 per show

- Revenue per show: $150
- Cost per show: $120

Full Metal Wrestling is a low-risk company with a 10% chance of going bust each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $40, reducing the risk of going bust by 5% each time.

Crowd capacity can be upgraded at a cost of $90, increasing revenues by 30% each time.

-------

Midlands Mayhem Wrestling
- Current Profits: $50 per show

- Revenue per show: $200
- Cost per show: $150

MMW is a medium-risk company with a 30% chance of going bust each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $100, reducing the risk of going bust by 10% each time.

Crowd capacity can be upgraded at a cost of $150, increasing revenues by 20% each time.
These wrestlers below are available to be signed for your company under the conditions stated. Each wrestler can only be signed by one company.
Spoiler!!! :
Billy Brutus
Billy can be signed for an initial fee of $200. After which his wage will be $10 per show. He is a relatively popular wrestler so he usually increases revenues of companies by 40 - 60%. He is particularly popular in the Boston area.

The Dudemeister
The Dudemeister can be signed for an initial fee of $300 and his wage is $20 per show thereafter. Everyone loves to come and see The Dudemeister kick some skulls in so he often increases revenues of companies by 100 – 140%. The locals in Fulham are particularly excited to watch him in action.

“Little” Jimmy Coleman
Jimmy can be signed for an initial cost of $200 after which his wage will be $10 per show. Nobody quite knows what to expect from Jimmy, he can be brilliant or atrocious, so revenues can increase from anywhere between 10 and 90%!

Fernando Luiz
Fernando can be signed for an initial fee of $200 and his wage will be $20 per show. He can increase revenues by 30 – 70% and is particularly popular in the Midlands.

King Kenny
Kenny can be signed for an initial fee of $100 and his wage will be $15 per show. He has quite a big following so he can increase revenues from 20 – 50%.

Amigo Toxico
Toxico can be signed for an initial fee of $50 and his wage will be $35 per show thereafter. He has the potential to increase your company’s revenues by 40 – 60%. He is particularly popular in Full Metal Wrestling.

Psycho Nova
Psycho Nova can be signed for an initial fee of $150 and his wage will be $25 per show. He can increase revenues anywhere from 50 - 70%
Mackinlee will be the PM for LOEG. The other team need to choose their PM before Friday 25th November 11:59pm EST.

You can choose your company any time from midnight on Friday (i.e. immediately after the deadline for choosing a PM). Just post in this thread which company your team wants. It will be first come first serve.

Hopefully this works. Any questions?

Yes. I don't expect you to be able to sign that many superstars.

A: It will start when both teams have chosen their company, so probably Saturday. You're not posting a show, you're just posting how you will use the funds from the show.

B: In this thread

So Mackinlee and sirmikeknight are the Project Managers.

Just to clarify what happens if you go bust: you lose all your progress and you start again the next day with the original position of your company.

You can choose your company now, just post in this thread. Remember, it's first come first serve so choose quickly to avoid the other team choosing the one you wanted!

Basically, once you have your company, I'll post your profits each day. You then have to say what you want to do with your profits each day. If you don't say anything then they will just carry over to the next day. But it's the company with the highest Profits Per Show (as shown in green for each company) at the end which will win, not the highest total profit. Cash left over at the end doesn't do you any good.

Any more questions please ask!

You can have more than one but you need enough money to buy them.

OK you can have FWF but you can't sign The Dudemeister just yet. He costs $300 and you start with $0. FWF makes $60 per show/day so you'll have to wait 5 days until you can sign him (if you don't spend your money on anything else).

Thought I saw an answer for this, but still left me confused.

When you say Profits Per Show, is that determining a winner on a day to day basis, like Day 1, FWF beats us, because they make more?

Or

Is it an average of all 10 days?

Or

something else?

Sorry, it probably makes perfect sense, and I'm just dumb.

The company with the highest profits per show after 10 days will win. It's not on a day-to-day basis and it's not an average, just whatever your profit per show is on the 10th show.

Both teams have chosen their companies so we can start.

Show 1

Fulham Wrestling Federation
- Current Profits: $60 per show

- Revenue per show: $150
- Cost per show: $90

FWF is a medium-risk company with a 20% chance of going bust each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $40, reducing the risk of going bust by 5%.

It often sells out its small venue and there is high demand for tickets. The capacity can be upgraded at a cost of $90, increasing revenues by 20% each time.

Show 1:
Opening Balance: $0
Profit from Show: +$60
Did you go bust? (20%): No
Total Cash: $60

----------------

Unstoppable Elite Wrestling
- Current Profits: $50 per show

- Revenue per show: $120
- Cost per show: $70

UEW has steady profits and has a 10% chance of collapsing each day. Debt can be paid off in instalments of $50, reducing the risk of going bust by 5% each time.

The UEW arena can be upgraded at a cost of $150, increasing revenues by 20% each time.

Show 1:
Opening Balance: $0
Profit from Show: +$50
Did you go bust? (10%): No
Total Cash: $50

--------------------------

So you now have the option to use your cash to either pay off debt, upgrade your crowd capacity or buy a wrestler. You have approximately 24 hours until I post the update for Show 2.

If it ended now, FWF would win since they have the highest Profits Per Show.

Purchase Amigo Toxico
Toxico can be signed for an initial fee of $50 and his wage will be $35 per show thereafter. He has the potential to increase your company’s revenues by 40 – 60%. He is particularly popular in Full Metal Wrestling.
