SPECIAL EVENT: The Play-Per-View Marathon! (COMPLETE)

Post by Texas Kelly »

The Play-Per-View Marathon (November 19-December 17, 2006)

The Play-Per-View marathon is now complete! Congratulations to the winner:

Fuggly Bastard

The Play-Per-View Marathon was a special Stablewars "Grand Championship" event, commissioned to commemorate the extraordinarily rare occurrence of major North American wrestling pay-per-view events taking place on five consecutive weekends in November & December of 2006.

Marathon Events
TNA presents Genesis - November 19, 2006 (Orlando, FL)
RAW/SD!/ECW present WWE Survivor Series - November 26, 2006 (Philadelphia, PA)
ECW presents December to Dismember - December 3, 2006 (Augusta, GA)
TNA presents Turning Point - December 10, 2006 (Orlando, FL)
SD! presents WWE Armageddon - December 17, 2006 (Richmond, VA)

Rules & Scoring
To be eligible for victory in the Marathon, players must participate in all five Marathon events. (Otherwise, it's not really much of a marathon, is it?) Each event will be scored as normal under WWE/TNA Grand Championship rules, which are as follows:
Scoring breakdowns are based upon a factor of 10. If the total number of participants in a Play-Per-View event is not divisible by 10, the number will be rounded up to the next factor of 10 to determine the base for breakdown of scoring. Participants must score points in a Play-Per-View to be eligible to receive points for that Play-Per-View towards the Grand Championship.

The points breakdown is as follows:
  • First Place: 10 points
  • Next 10% in Standings: 6 points
  • Next 20% in Standings: 4 points
  • Next 30% in Standings: 3 points
  • Next 20% in Standings: 2 points
  • Next 10% in Standings: 1 point
  • Remaining Players/No Score: 0 points
The scores of players eligible for the Marathon will then be carried over into a separate standings. Should the winner of an individual event not be eligible for the Marathon, the eligible player who achieves the highest score in the event will receive a bonus of 2 points.

The player with the highest overall score after all five events will be declared the winner. Any ties will be broken by a comparison of individual event scores according to the following priority order:
  1. WWE Survivor Series
  2. TNA Turning Point
  3. WWE Armageddon
  4. TNA Genesis
  5. ECW December to Dismember

UPDATE (11/22/06): You will be allowed to miss one of the five Marathon events and still remain eligible for victory in the Marathon. Don't know if we have to verify that we want in on this or just play the 5 Play Per Views needed to qualify for it, but I want in on this.

No need to verify here - just be sure you participated in the Genesis PPV and be sure to participate in the other four!

If you cared enough, you wouldn't need incentives. They'd just be gravy on top. ;)

Hey, um, I was in Hawaii till Monday and my net access was well, non-existent except for 20 minutes to set my fantasy football teams. Any chance I can get in this despite having missed Genesis? Hell, I still don't know what happened at Genesis, let alone that it occured. Anyhow, since there is an extenuating circumstance, can I get a pass here?

You can, but you would be docked an entire PPV. Which wouldn't really make a difference if you place uber well at the next two.

Alright, I've decided to revise the eligibility rules for this slightly, since I didn't announce this until after Genesis (and it's now apparent that something like this would have increased the Genesis turnout a bit).

You're allowed to miss one PPV of the five and still be eligible to win the Marathon. The trade-off for this, however, is that you will be automatically handicapped behind anyone who picked all five shows for tiebreaker purposes. (So, for example, if you're tied with another person at the end, and you won the Survivor Series play-per-view, but you missed a show and the other person didn't - sorry, you lose.)

Fair?
